I’m sure that this has been on your mind in the last few weeks (election, what election?). I admit that last week I had no desire to write. None. Then I started to get sick on Friday and since then have spent the better part of every day in bed either sleeping or watching Hallmark channel Christmas movies. I actually think they have been a great antidote to the happenings in the real world. What’s not to love about cute leads fighting and then falling in love? Most even have cute kids or dogs too. They’ve provided ample fodder for my own romance. Now all I need to do is write. I ventured outside today in this balmy 60 degree weather to take a look at my dismal word count.
I’ve got my NaNoWriMo coffee mug for inspiration and my old trusty Acer. This laptop is old and sometimes a bit cranky but I’m working with what I got. I’ve tentatively titled my book Coming Home and I’ve written just over 10,000 words. According to the NaNoWriMo site if I keep at this pace I’ll finish on January 14, 2017, lol. So, it looks like I’ve got some work to do if I want to finish by the end of the month. I take heart in the conversation I had with author Jennifer Ryan last week. She told me that if she stays in one place all day, no change of clothes, minimal eating, she can knock out 20,000 words in a day. A DAY! All I need is one or two of those and I’m golden.
As for the names. Laurel won the vote and is fitting in nicely but you all voted Grant for my guy and try as I might he just didn’t want to be there. Mitch, the second place vote jumped in and saved the day. I think Laurel and Mitch will be very happy together. Eventually.
