2018 and a fresh start

2018 and a fresh start

We’re going to do things a little differently this year.  I’ve been fighting a nasty cold/flu thing for about a week and a half and when I hopped on the scale last night I realized that I had gained another 4 pounds this past year.  I need to make this year about good health so instead of a monthly challenge like I’ve been doing I’m going to switch it up a bit.  I’m going to start doing things for my health, mind and body, and add one new thing every month.  Over the next few days I’ll take some stats and pics and see what I can accomplish by just adding good habits to my life.

For January I’m going to walk 10,000 steps and drink 7 glasses of water every day.  This doesn’t seem like much to you, but it is necessary for me.  I don’t know where I’ve been on the walking since I haven’t kept track in a few years.  My best guess is that I’m 50/50 on getting to 10,000.  And the water, that’s always a fail.  When I did my juicing month I actually started to like water a bit, but even if I don’t ever love it, I need to drink it. So, for this first month, easy achieveable goals to move forward.

I am still going to do the Master Classes this year too, but they may not be done in 30 day increments. I’ve made it through 13 lessons and am really liking the James Patterson on Writing Course.  A few of my favorite quotes…

“Everything you write should be moving your story forward.”

“You want your readers to have strong feelings about your characters.”

“In my opinion, one of the biggest secret of suspense is setting up questions that the reader MUST have answered.”

  1. Those are some great quotes for writing. Good luck with your health goals! Those are so tough. But doing small things can make big things happen. Good luck this year! I still want to do some book reading with you in September!

    1. I want you to join us! Sorry I backed out of the documentary month. It was just too much with everything else going on and Jason wasn’t as excited about it as he needed to be.

  2. I rarely get in 10,000 steps a day. I’m lucky to hit 8,000. I drink water a fair amount, I don’t like it, but if I keep pop out of the house, I do pretty well.

  3. Is there any way to find the exercises that were on the 30 day challenges? I have them saved to a board in Pinterest but when I go to open it, it doesn’t let me. I see that you are not using Pinterest anymore, what should I do?
